But The Donuts Though

I’ve said it before and I believe it’s worth repeating. There is literally a day for celebrating anything! Believe it or not, today is National Donut Day, honest and for true. It’s also World Bicycle Day apparently, but I’ve already talked about bikes in another post and thus, there’s no need for a second. It’s absolutely, positively, a 100% biased decision, however, one must always be true to themselves. For me, donuts far outweigh bikes in my simple little life. Therefore, donuts shall be the focus of this day’s random thoughts!

Since it is National Donut Day, we can revisit an age-old question. What the heck is the correct spelling for this word?! Seriously, I can’t be the only one who has been faced with a conundrum about this. Well, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but surely some of you can relate!

For years, I’ve seen two variations of this word used: donut and doughnut. A part of me views it as completely unnecessary to have two different spellings for the word but it seems that’s a common theme in the English language. It also appears that neither is particularly wrong, it’s simply that one is used more than the other. Well, I suppose this is one question that we will never have a true answer for, and I for one am totally ok with that!

It doesn’t change the fact donuts are one of the greatest culinary treats ever created! Of course, there are a few places that come to mind where I can partake of this delicacy. Since I currently live in Texas, an all-time favorite is Round Rock Donuts, though I’m not sure if that’s the case for other residents. Let’s just say it’s an all-time favorite for me and my family. Regardless, I know how I’m going to satisfy my sweet tooth today! I’ll try not to go overboard, but honestly, I can’t make any promises.
