It's Snowing....Again....In Texas

This new year has sprung quite a few surprises on us, but this one takes the cake. Never in my life did I think I would witness actual snow in my home state. And it's legit the real deal, you guys, pure white and everything! It has completely overtaken my home and the surrounding area. I have to admit while it was awesome to see the white fluffy stuff, it came with some side effects.

Like myself, many residents of the lone star state are having to deal with loss of power and water. I've read and heard several different reasons as to why. One piece of information calls them "controlled outages" or "rolling blackouts" to prevent an actual blackout. Nonsense? I think so, too. I've read from another source that electric generating plants in Texas didn't properly winterize their equipment. Now this, I can believe.

I doubt the ones who laid down the blueprint for these plants thought we'd ever see extreme weather like this twice in one year. Is that an excuse for not properly winterizing the equipment? No, I don't think it is, but it's not my place to judge. My place, like everyone else, is to make the most of the situation.

It's all about your perspective. So let me ask, what are some other things you could do while the electricity is out? Any ideas? I'm thinking of snuggling up in my covers and reading a good book. I think I'll also work on that story I've been neglecting for quite some time. Hey, I've got nothing else to do, but it doesn't mean I still can't be productive. Of course, there's nothing wrong with relaxing by a fire or sipping on some hot cocoa (if you can make it).

Anyone going out to build a snowman? I'd love to see them! Whatever you do, stay safe, stay warm, and make the best of this Texas winter wonderland!
