Looking A Lot Like Another Binge

Wow, time really does fly. Here we are already at the start of the second half of this year! I’m not sure why, but it feels as though I haven’t done anything this year, but I know that’s just self-doubt talking. Is anyone else facing this same thing? It’s tough to remember that building any dream takes time, especially when it seems there’s no visual evidence of your progress. Still, I hope we all have the courage to keep going!

So now, let’s transition into what I want to dive into for this random thoughts session. I have to be honest, my stomach is in knots from excitement, nervousness, slight trepidation, and other feelings that I can’t quite put into words. This is the day that the second part of the fourth season of Stranger Things comes out and needless to say, I am READY! Actually, that might be a partial lie, I feel ready for it, but I don’t at the same time. This is what I have not-so-patiently been anticipating for the entire month of June.
Honestly, a part of me thinks I should have held off on watching the first part because, after that cliffhanger, I was almost devastated that I had to wait to see the story continue. Despite that, I don’t regret watching it at all, I absolutely loved it! Also, I believe I need to correct a statement I made in my last post about the show. Apparently, there will be one more season after this. I’m still verifying this information but, secretly, I hope it’s true!

Anyway, going back to the first part of season four. The writers really transformed the overall atmosphere of the show with this season. Sure, it was chilling and gory before, but now the themes are darker and the horror has intensified. I’m here for it, either way! Here are some of my personal favorite aspects of the season so far.
First of all, Eddie is officially my favorite character. Don’t ask me why, he just is and that isn’t going to change! Perhaps it has something to do with the awesome Lord of the Rings reference. Or perhaps it’s the fact that he had a very realistic reaction to seeing a girl float to the ceiling and see her bones snap. It’s a bit of both, to be honest.
Second, the development and growth of Eleven were truly astounding in this first part. The writers did an excellent job getting the audience to empathize with this character. Her journey was a particularly rough one this time around and not just because of her powers. She had to deal with something many of us dreaded at some point in our lives—high school. To add more fuel to the fire, we learned that poor Eleven was bullied on more than front after getting a glimpse into her past!
Even so, I admire how it all came together in the end and the true identity of Vecna came to light. I mentioned before that I truly enjoy the structure of this show. There are different stories being carried out simultaneously and the flow is phenomenal! There was never a point where I was lost or confused.

Joyce and Murray’s side story as they journey off to find Hopper was one I enjoyed. Not to mention, the kids were truly left on their own this time, but I’ll save that for another post. One thing is for sure, Joyce proved she is not someone to be messed with and it paid off! I wonder what this second half will have in store for us. Do you guys have any expectations? I, personally, am looking forward to an epic showdown! Let’s get this weekend binge started!
