With so many people talking about it, it’s safe to throw in my own thoughts about season 4 of Stranger Things at this point. This season most certainly left an impression, both good and bad, at least for me. I think I’m at the point now where I feel emotionally stable enough to talk about it. Yes, you read that right, it wasn’t a typo at all.
Don’t get me wrong, overall, I reveled in every last bit of the show. I loved how it turned out! Every single question was answered and there were times I cheered like an enthusiastic football fan, shrieked like a little girl, and hurled several objects at the wall all while watching one episode. Thankfully I received no complaints from my neighbors. Some might say I’m too invested in a simple television show but that’s up for debate. I daresay that since I’m a writer, it’s almost an occupational obligation to be invested in the shows I watch. It’s all part of the learning process!
Anyway, the bottom line is that this show hurt my soul at the same time it touched my heart, here’s why. First, it has to be addressed. Eddie Munson. Let me just pause to take a deep breath for a moment…There were quite a few who called it and I hoped against hope that it wouldn’t happen, but it did. The life of my favorite nerd was taken and yes, I did cry, don’t judge me! After showcasing his epic guitar skills playing “Master of Puppets”, my favorite character put up a good fight and went out like the hero he was!
I’m still recovering from this loss, but on the other hand, there was some level of consolation. I have no doubt there was unanimous satisfaction when fans saw the character Jason get exactly what he deserved, he annoyed us long enough! Now that all the mysteries have been brought to light, it’s time for the final showdown. I have to admit, I really admire the build-up the writers provided for each season. It all came together so well and now we’re almost at the end.
I am curious, though, about Will’s character. It’s interesting that he’s one of the only characters who had a psychological connection with One but was able to truly break free. There are still remnants of that connection as we saw in this season as well as season 3. I wonder if it will play a bigger role in the final battle. Nevertheless, all I wish for is a good ending with all our characters happy and alive….especially alive! #eddieourhero
