The Monday Preset

In some form or another, I’ve heard and even read that how you start your Monday can set the tone for the rest of the week. In my personal quest to develop new habits, I’ve come to understand how important this is. It’s no mystery that people of all ages have a strong vendetta against Monday. I mean the countless memes and gifs are proof of that. For small kids and teenagers, it signals another school week. For adults and parents, it means the end of the short weekend and the beginning of a new work week.
By the way, can I just go off on a tangent here and say a two-day weekend is too doggone short! I think we should petition for at least three days to allow our brains to fully recharge! Anyway, back to the topic at hand. As I said, Mondays are particularly difficult for many, but perhaps that doesn’t always have to be the case. After all, it does set up a new week, and I’m sure we all want that week to be amazing.

With this in mind, Monday might play a more significant role than we give it credit for. Not that you can actually give Monday credit…I mean, maybe you can, I just don’t see that being a beneficial investment. At any rate, I do believe a shift of perception is needed when it comes to Mondays. For so long, the instant reaction when waking up Monday morning is “Ugh, I hate Mondays.” Four small words, but just think of the impact they have on your day and on your week. Probably without even realizing it, that feeling stays with you all the way until Friday, and then your mood changes because of “TGIF.”
But what if we begin launching the week with that feeling instead? Now I’m not saying to start off your Monday with “Thank God it’s Monday!” That seems weird even just typing it. However, I am saying try entering into the week by stating Monday will be a great day! I believe everything else will fall in line when you do.
