Too Hot to Trot

Over many years of enduring the insufferable summer heat of Texas, I have come to accept that heat is just not for me, truly! It creates such a heavy impact on even the smallest of things such as whether it’s absolutely worth the five-minute walk to go check your mailbox. Then, you have to calculate the correct speed for the walk because going too fast can result in you drenched in sweat by the time you return. Thus I am perfectly content with staying indoors as much as possible where air conditioning is my friend.

This has me thinking, however, about other places in our beautiful world that are subject to intensely high temperatures. I want to share a couple of them in this random thoughts session. From what I have learned, there are actually quite a few cities with record high temperatures worse than the lone star state.

One such city is located in California called Death Valley and it seems the name is extremely fitting. Apparently, summer temperatures hover around 120 degrees but can even increase to 125 degrees! Unfortunately, it isn’t just here in America where the heat can reach an unbearable point. A city in Kuwait sported an all-around high of 127 degrees just last year! Now, Texas summers can get hot, but they don’t get THAT hot!

It almost makes me appreciate the level of warmth we get here compared to other places. The keyword is almost. I still hate the heat, but I can at least be grateful to some extent. After what I’ve read, it could be much worse. Perhaps it’s time to start developing a love for snow. I mean, the winter season has its perks too! Bundling up by a fire and epic snowball fights are only two of them to mention. However my admiration for winter grows, if at all, for now, I will seek ways to stay cool. I hope you do the same!
