Well, That’s Amore

I do my absolute best to ensure I regret nothing in life, but sadly there is one thing that fits in this area. Traveling is a concept I unintentionally ignored for a very long time. Of course, there were uncontrollable factors in play that hindered my ability to indulge in traveling but still, I lament not doing it more nonetheless. This year, and for many years to come, I plan to explore more of the world.

One of the places at the top of my list happens to be Italy. I know, I know, that comes off as a total cliché, but give me a break, alright? Remember I’m a person who’s barely gone outside of her home state, even before the pandemic flipped life upside down. Besides, I have my own reason for visiting this beautiful country, specifically, Milan. Why do you ask? Well, I shamelessly admit that it has to do with coffee.

Like plenty of other people, I am an avid coffee and tea lover! What’s more, with the introduction of espresso, my affection for coffee has grown tremendously! This brings me to the reason for wanting to journey to Milan. It was there that a manufacturer by the name of Luigi Bezzera first developed the newfound drink. A very fascinating part of this bit of history is that it all stemmed from the desire for the coffee-making process to be quicker and get as much flavor out of it as possible. Honestly, I’m convinced Bezzera was channeling the pent-up frustration of coffee lovers everywhere!

I’m sure I am not the only one who has a deep appreciation for this man, and it’s all because of espresso. I would probably give him a hug if I ever met him. That’s impossible, though, considering he lived over a hundred years ago. Also, it would probably be awkward because…well…I don’t even know the guy, so that’s a sure way to get smacked. Still, I am grateful, to say the least.

I want to experience exploring the place where espresso first came to be with my own eyes and drink it from there, even though Milan is actually a famous fashion hub. It may seem like a silly reason to go there, but it’s something I’ve wanted for a while. Of course, it wouldn’t be the only reason for going to Italy, that country is far too beautiful for me not to see as much as I can! I hope I can satisfy this curiosity soon!
